The Purden Lake and Sandlot showings are located approximately 55 kilometres east of the town of Prince George, on the south side of Highway 16 and south of Purden Lake, in the Cariboo Mining Division.

The property is underlain by the Mississippian to Permian Antler Formation (Slide Mountain Group), which consists of fault-bounded, mainly basaltic volcanic rocks juxtaposed within a wide variety of Paleozoic to Mesozoic sedimentary and metasedimentary rocks.

A large deposit of bentonite was first reported in 1960 at Purden Lake, and this MINFILE was registered accordingly; however, further investigations, including a targeted site visit in 2006, have not been able to identify the reported occurrence (Assessment Report 28801). The report emphasizes that the geological environment of the property is not typical for bentonite deposits, and posits that the original report may have been misplotted or misidentified. The author does, however, recommend that further exploration for VMS-style deposits be conducted, and addresses potential geological similarities to the nearby Nook, Mega, Jay and Chu Chua base metal showings (Assessment Report 28801).
